• I-89 lane shut by truck mishaps

MIDDLESEX — Vermont State Police say two incidents involving tractor-trailers brought Interstate 89 southbound to one lane Friday.

State police say a truck carrying milk driven by Ronald C. LaRock, 66, of Enosburg Falls, had a mechanical failure around 9 a.m. in Waterbury and drove into a U-turn north of Exit 10. State police say the vehicle came to rest partly in the passing lane.

Shortly before noon, state police say, Gary K. Wells, 56, of Barton, who was driving a truck carrying gasoline, was unable to stop when vehicles in front of him in Middlesex slowed down. State police say Wells drove into the median to avoid a collision and became stuck when he tried to get the truck back onto the interstate.

Both incidents closed one southbound lane for around 30 minutes, and both are under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police in Middlesex at 229-9191.
