BARRE — City police say a truck hit power lines on North Main Street about 11:30 a.m. near the former Jones Brothers granite shed, causing the road to be closed in both directions for about a half hour Friday.

Cpl. Jon Houle of the Barre City Police Department confirmed that a truck had struck power lines and that the situation caused traffic to be rerouted while Green Mountain Power repaired the downed line. He said the incident involved just one vehicle. Police did not release further details of the incident, which he said remains under investigation.

Houle indicated “an arrest is possible.” The driver’s name was not released.
