• Free Braille class offered

    SOUTH BURLINGTON — The Vermont Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired will be hosting a free “Introduction to Braille” class Thursday at 60 Kimball Ave. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

    Registration is required. To register, contact Laurie VasQuenza at 800-639-5861, ext. 211.

    The class will be taught by Supervisor of Children’s Services Stephanie Bissonette and by Trisha Klein, who is a teacher of the visually impaired and a certified orientation and mobility specialist. They will explain about the Braille alphabet, contractions and punctuation.

    They will also give a brief history of the inventor, share the different types of Braille and Braille technology, talk about translation programs and answer questions about this form of communication.

    Friends, family members and anyone who is blind or visually impaired is encouraged to attend.
