Troopers in shooting
return to work
ST. JOHNSBURY — Two Vermont State Police troopers involved in the shooting of a man in Barton last month have returned to work.
Sgt. Denis Girouard and Trooper Seth Loomis were placed on administrative leave with pay following the shooting May 28.
The Caledonian Record reported that state police are still investigating the shooting and the case will be reviewed by the state attorney general’s office and the Orleans County state’s attorney’s office.
Police say the suspect, 27-year-old Eric Jackson of Lyndonville, was wanted on escape status from the state Department of Corrections.
After a lengthy pursuit, police say Jackson stopped in Barton, changed directions by accelerating in reverse and repeatedly rammed two state police cruisers. The two officers fired their weapons; they were not hurt.MORE IN Vermont NewsMONTPELIER — An executive with the owner of the mothballed Vermont Yankee nuclear plant sought to... Full Story
