    Police: No sign

    of bear attack

MILTON ó Police say they have concluded that there was no bear attack in Milton and say drugs may have been involved in the incident.

Police said 44-year-old Ladonna Merriman and 28-year-old Lucas Gingras were taken to the hospital Wednesday, Merriman with serious injuries and Gingras with minor injuries.

Police said Gingras told them that a bear and two cubs had attacked them at the camp where they were staying. He says the bear tried to get into the cabin and somehow a camp stove got knocked over and set the cabin on fire.

Police said Thursday they found no evidence of a bear but found that someone went over a steep ledge and landed on trees and rocks below.
