BURLINGTON — Fletcher Allen Health Care, Vermont’s largest hospital, is planning to change its name to The University of Vermont Medical Center this fall, officials said Thursday.

The new name is a brand strategy intended to reflect the tie with UVM and collaboration among hospitals, officials said.

“The new name reflects our teamwork — today and for the months and years to come,” said Fletcher Allen President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. John Brumsted.

Fletcher Allen Partners, which is made up of four hospitals in Vermont and northern New York, will change its name to The University of Vermont Health Network.

As part of the name change, Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin will use its name together with The University of Vermont Health Network. CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, New York, will become Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital and use that name in conjunction with The University of Vermont Health Network, as will Elizabethtown Community Hospital in New York.
