NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. — Mr. Douglas Junior Wheeler, 82, of North Fort Myers, Florida, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Hope Hospice of Cape Coral. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends at the time of his passing.
He had a passion for farming, and working with animals. He loved the outdoors, haying, working in his vegetable garden. He enjoyed working with wood, making various woodcrafts for his family and friends, or selling them at flea markets throughout the area. He had a real love of family and enjoyed being with them. Especially his many grandchildren. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren camping, often going to his favorite place, Rogers Camp Ground.
He was a retired auto parts salesman with Woodsville Auto Supply, of Woodsville, New Hampshire, a member of the North Fort Myers Church of God and the Free and Accepted Masons.
He was born July 24, 1931, in Woodsville to the late Leslie Everett Wheeler and Ethel Mae James Wheeler.
He was predeceased in death by his wife Margaret Dudley Wheeler (2003), and by a son, Howard, on March 1, 1960, and a brother, Donald, on May 8, 2007.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Hazel E. Wheeler; his son Douglas S. Wheeler, of North Fort Myers, Florida; his daughter, Elisabeth Johnson, of Tice, Florida; son Leslie F. Wheeler (Anna), of Williamstown, Vermont; and son Timothy A. Wheeler (Lynn), of North Fort Myers, Florida; sister Barb Meyette, of Wells River, Vermont; sister-in-law Joann Wheeler, of Wells River, Vermont; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Pinehurst Cemetery in South Ryegate, Vermont, Aug. 2, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. with the Free and Accepted Masons officiating.
