CVMC sponsors fun run June 14 for Health Care Share ProgramJune 09,2014
BERLIN — The Central Vermont Medical Center, together with the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps, will sponsor a fun run Saturday, leaving from the Berlin Town Clerk’s Office at 108 Shed Road in Berlin at 10 a.m., the hospital announced.
The event will raise funds “to help fund a collaborative between CVMC and Vermont Youth Conservation Corps to provide Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares for food insecure patients and employees in our community,” the event’s flier states. Funds will also be used to help with costs of constructing an outdoor terrace area for psychiatric patients of the medical center.
Pre-registration for Saturday’s CVMC Fun Run (or walk) is $30, and is due by Wednesday. Register by calling 371-4191 or go online to www.cvmc.org/fun-run. On the day of the event, registration will be $35, and will start at 8 a.m., closing at 9:45 a.m. sharp before the 10 a.m. walk/run start time. Race T-shirts will be provided to all participants.
The course will include a 5-mile loop that will run counter-clockwise around Berlin Pond on dirt roads, with one water and food stop. The first half of the course is very hilly, and the second half is relatively flat, according to the flier for the fun run/walk. Parking will be at the town clerk’s office only, and there is no parking along the race course.
There will be awards given by gender in various age categories. Organizers ask that joggers not bring baby joggers or dogs, and that participants not wear headphones.
For more information, contact race directors Robert Patterson at Robert.Patterson@CVMC.org or Monica Urquhart at Monica.Urquhart@CVMC.org. The event is sponsored by the CVMC Employee Wellness Program. Last year, the program which Saturday’s event will benefit helped to distribute 150 CSA food shares to families in the area.MORE IN This Just InBURLINGTON — Burlington police are seeking a suspect who tried to steal a woman’s purse and then...
