Marshals say fugitive
arrested in Canada
BURLINGTON — The U.S. Marshal’s Service says a Vermont fugitive who has been on the run for more than seven years has been arrested in Canada.
The service says 35-year-old Matthew S. Patry, formerly of Burlington, was arrested Tuesday in Blainville, Quebec after he was located and taken into custody by agents of the Canada Border Services Agency.
Blainville is about 20 miles northwest of Montreal.
Patry has been a fugitive since 2007, when he disappeared from furlough. In October 2007 Vermont officials determined he was out of compliance with the state’s sex offender and an arrest warrant was issued.
The Marshal’s Service says Patry is facing Canadian charges and he will be returned to the United States once they are resolved.MORE IN Vermont NewsThe Department of Health could lose its funding from Entergy next year, ending more than 42 years...
