    Note the distinction

    Re: “Toyota donates 2 electric vehicles to Vermont” on Thursday: While this is great, the headline is specious.

    It is important to point out that these are not “zero emission vehicles.”

    Also, by definition, electric vehicles refer to 100 percent electric vehicles — not hybrids.

    A Prius is not an electric vehicle. It is a hybrid vehicle with an internal combustion engine that will not run without gasoline.

    Thanks for your efforts to help Vermonters understand the difference.
