BARTON — Police say a man was shot by two state troopers in Vermont after he allegedly stole a vehicle and led officers on a chase before reportedly ramming two police cruisers.
The suspect, Eric Jackson, 27, of Lyndonville, was listed in stable condition Wednesday morning at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
Police said he was wanted on escape status from the Department of Corrections; further information was not immediately available.
Police said the vehicle was taken shortly after 2 a.m. from a home on Route 5 in Sutton. After a lengthy pursuit, the vehicle stopped in Barton, changed directions by accelerating in reverse and repeatedly rammed two police cruisers.
Two troopers fired, police said. They were placed on administrative leave.MORE IN This Just InDORSET — The Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation and Green Mountain Power are...
