• Market involves area children
     | May 29,2014

NORTHFIELD — The Northfield Farmers Market will be encouraging young people in the community to “grow their own” this summer.

At the market Tuesday, kids from Northfield, Roxbury and surrounding areas can pick up free seed packets and starter plants from 3 to 6 p.m., while supplies last. The children can plant the seeds and starts in their own gardens and reap the rewards later in the summer. On Youth Vendor Day, Aug. 19, the market will provide space from 3 to 6 p.m. for these “future farmers” to sell what they’ve grown, bringing the seed-to-market program full circle.

Young crafters, artisans, bakers and food producers are encouraged to sell their wares Aug. 19 as well. Contact market manager Judy Hewett at 485-8027 for more information or with questions.
