    Hope for Lyme patients

    On May 22, Gov. Peter Shumlin signed the Lyme disease bill, H.123. It is a good start in helping remove the medical stigma and fear of sanctions for doctors treating and diagnosing Lyme outside of the IDSA guidelines. Doctors who choose to treat according to the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society guidelines may win big. Not only will they be free to treat according to currently evolving research, (instead of the outdated Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and IDSA guidelines), but they might actually greatly improve the health of Vermonters who are very sick from long-term, advanced Lyme.
