    tests fishing skills

MONTPELIER — Gov. Peter Shumlin and Rep. Peter Welch were among the Vermont officials testing their fishing skills in the 7th annual Governor’s Cup fishing derby.

Anglers gathered on the shores of the Winooski River in Colchester in hopes of leading their teams to victory Wednesday.

Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger and Fish & Wildlife Commissioner Louis Porter were among the other team leaders.

The proceeds of the fishing derby benefit the Next Generation Fund and the Champlain Fisheries Recovery Initiative.
