BARRE ó Evelyn J. Bottiggi, 77, formerly of Williamstown, died Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at the Rowan Court Health and Rehabilitation Center, where she had been a resident for the past four years, surrounded by her family.
Born on Jan. 7, 1937, in Montpelier, she was the daughter of Harold and Reba (Lamell) Pratt. Evelyn graduated from Montpelier High School with high honors in 1954.
On Sept. 1, 1956, Evelyn married Thomas E. Bottiggi at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Williamstown, where they made their home for 46 years.
Evelyn worked for radio station WSKI in Montpelier as office manager and bookkeeper for 33 years, retiring in 1999. She then worked for the town of Williamstown in the town managerís office before finally retiring in 2002.
She enjoyed reading, music, dancing, bowling, cooking for large family gatherings, and spending time with her family and friends at their camp in Brookfield and at the family cottage on Joeís Pond.
Evelyn is survived by her five children and their spouses, Michael and his wife, Mary OíToole, of Sheffield, Michele and her husband, Sam Longe, of Huntington, Timothy and his wife, Lisa, of Williamstown, Terri and her husband, Kevin Wood, of Barre Town, and Thomas and his wife, Suellen, of Woodbury; eight grandchildren, TJ Bottiggi, Viki Bottiggi, Ashley Jacques, John McKown, Carrie McKown, Michael Bottiggi, Jacklyn Longe and Caitlyn Bottiggi; one great-grandchild, Liam Jacques; her mother, Reba Carlson, of Zephyrhills, Florida; her brother, Kenneth Pratt, and his wife, Angie, of Reading, and Zephyrhills, Florida; her sister Kathleen Pratt, of Portland, Maine; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Tom, who died on Sept. 23, 2006; father, Harold Pratt; stepfather, Richard Carlson; sisters Jean Beaudin and Christine Marsh; her in-laws, Ernest and Claire Bottiggi.
A service of remembrance will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will take place at the convenience of her family at a later date.

Evelynís family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Rowan Court and to Bayada Hospice Services for their loving and compassionate care given to their mother over the past four years. We will be forever grateful.
