    Vermont expands

    ‘trophy trout’ program

MONTPELIER — The Vermont Department of Fish & Wildlife is expanding its trophy trout program to a portion of the Walloomsac River in Bennington.

The section of the Walloomsac will become part of the program that stocks two-year-old trout, some over 18 inches long, in eight stretches of river and 15 lakes and ponds across the state.

The section of the Walloomsac being stocked with trophy trout extends from the Vermont/New York border in Bennington upstream to the top of the former Vermont Tissue Plant Dam.

There is no size limit on trout harvested from this section of river, but the daily limit has been changed to two trout per day.
