    Green Up Day appreciation

This is a personal thank you to all the volunteers who showed up Saturday morning to help make our city look great for all the tourists who will be coming soon and to just keep our streets and landscape looking green. Almost 200 volunteers came to the Montpelier Alive signup table to get assigned places to pick up trash. Also, on Friday afternoon six businesses took to the roads to get a head start. Big thanks to National Life, VSECU, Union Mutual, Vermont Mutual, Suburban Propane and Ameriprise Financial.

A special thanks to Montpelier Public Works for the volunteers to pick up the bags throughout the day Saturday. I am proud to be part of this great tradition and hope we can continue to keep our city clean year-round. Green Up is only one day, but there is no reason not to pick up trash the other 364 days. Hopefully the people who do litter will think twice before throwing trash on the roadsides.
