    Drivers warned of

    reptiles, amphibians

MONTPELIER ó The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department says lots of reptiles and amphibians are crossing roads at this time of year to breed.

Frogs, salamanders and turtles are among the animals likely to be seen in roads near wetlands, ponds and vernal pools in the coming weeks. Officials are urging drivers to slow down, be aware of whatís ahead and take alternate routes when possible.

They say thatís especially true on rainy spring nights, when amphibians are on the move.
