• U-32 shuts out Harwood, 18-0

    EAST MONTPELIER — U-32 was victorious in its home game against Harwood on Wednesday, putting up an 18-0 shut-out.

    Maggie LaGue led the way for her team with four goals and two assists, while teammates Nicole Lavigne (two goals, two assists), Cilla Wanzer (two goals, two assists), Bailey Starr (two goals, one assist) and Fiona Steele (two goals) added to the effort. Freshmen Ashley Mekkeinson, Acadia Zabrike and Natalie Hayes all earned their first ever varsity goal, along with sophomore Lavgine scoring her first as well.

    Willow Menzel and Brenna Connor guarded the net for U-32, totalling four saves together. Cheyanne Evans of Harwood was in the net and deflected four shots.

    “Harwood was missing many of their key players, and this was the first time we had all of ours all season.” U-32 coach Emilie Clark said. “We came out strong from the top, and I am very proud of the girl’s efforts tonight. It was a great win for sure.”

    U-32 imporoves to 2-1 and will host Oxbow on Thursday.
