• Health 'navigators' gather to tout successes

    MONTPELIER - A group of Vermont Health Connect navigators is talking up success stories in getting people enrolled in health insurance coverage through the state health exchange.

    Representatives of five groups involved in the effort gathered at the Statehouse on Wednesday to say there have been technical challenges in helping people use the website, but there have been thousands of success stories that haven't received sufficient attention.

    Amelia Schlossberg of the Community Health Centers of Burlington says her organization has handled more than 1,400 enrollments in Vermont Health Connect. She told a story of one family in which the mother was facing major surgery. Schlossberg says she was able to help the family get coverage for less money than they had been paying in health premiums previously.
