MONTPELIER — Ledge scaling is set to begin Monday along Interstate 89 northbound in Montpelier, but traffic is not expected to be affected for more than a day.

According to a news release from the contractor, crews will begin hand scaling the ledge on the northbound side between the Route 12 overpass and the Exit 8 off ramp. However, “unlike last year, Exit 8 will remain open at all times with no planned traffic interruptions,” the contractor said. “There is a planned shoulder closure along the work zone leaving both northbound lanes of the interstate open for traffic. Travel may be reduced to one lane through the construction zone for a day while crews set up the barrier for the shoulder closure.”

The project is expected to be completed in about a month, weather permitting, and work updates will be available at www.roadworkupdates.com.
