Theresa M. Cayia Rites
BARRE — A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Thursday, April 10, 2014, at 11 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre for Theresa M. Cayia, of North Barre Manor, who passed away April 5, 2014, at her home.
The Rev. Leopold J. Bilodeau, pastor of the church, was the celebrant.
Crucifer Lawrence Reilly was altar server and led the Prayer of the Faithful.
Organist and soloist Rosemary Badeau accompanied vocalists Romeo Bilodeau and Ronald Routhier in the hymns, “Holy, Holy, Holy,” “The King of Love My Shepherd,” “Your Words, Lord, Are Spirit and Life,” “Amazing Grace,” “Ave Maria,” “Song of Farewell” and “How Great Thou Art.”
Scripture readings from the Old Testament were read by Christine Getchel, granddaughter, and Mary-Margaret Larson, also a granddaughter, read Scriptures from the New Testament.
Words of remembrance were offered by her grandson Eric Larson.
Offertory gifts were brought to the altar by Sue Stone, Mary Cadoret and Cecile Carbonneau.
A prayer service was held Thursday morning, with the family, at the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home in Barre and was led by Father Bilodeau.
Pallbearers were: Robert Larson, son-in-law; Eric Larson and John Larson, both grandsons; Ronald Geake and Henri Dessureau, both nephews; and Mark Dessureau, great-nephew.
Entombment followed the Mass at the Elmwood vault in Barre. A later spring burial will take place in St. Sylvester Cemetery in Lower Websterville, to be announced.
Following the entombment, family and friends gathered at the Hilltop Restaurant on Quarry Hill Road for a time of fellowship and luncheon.
