WILLIAMSTOWN — Beverly Alma Guild, 90, a Williamstown native and longtime resident of Hebert Road, died Saturday, April 5, 2014, at the Suncoast Hospice Center in Pinellas Park, Fla. Her family had been at her bedside.
Born July 2, 1923, in Williamstown, she was the daughter of Ralph and Esther (Holden) George.
She attended Williamstown Elementary School and graduated from Spaulding High School in Barre in 1941.
On March 16, 1942, she married Blaine E. Guild in Montpelier. They first lived in Barre, moving to Williamstown in the early 1950s. Since 1984, they spent the winter months in St. Petersburg, Fla. Blaine died May 10, 1993. Beverly had continued making her winter home there.
In 1960, she began working for the state of Vermont as a job service clerk in the unemployment division, retiring in 1984.
She enjoyed watching her grandsons and great-grandson playing baseball, trips to Livermore Falls, Maine, watching the Tampa Bay Lightning hockey team and the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team, gardening, cross-stitching and spending time with her family.
Beverly also volunteered and supported the hospice store in St. Petersburg, Fla.
In earlier years, Beverly belonged to Charity Chapter 57 Order of the Eastern Star of Williamstown.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Richard and Mary Guild, and daughter-in-law Nancy Guild, all of Williamstown; seven grandchildren: David and Judy Guild, Steven and Andrea Guild, Matthew Guild, Rebecca Guild, Jessica Guild Kidder, Dawn Smith, and Kori and John Taylor; and 14 great-grandchildren: Shayna, Kevin, Gianna, Kamden, Michael, Shaquee, DaVuarrio, Quen’Tavas, Dennise, Nikita, Ulrich, Victoria, Lander and Fianna. Also surviving are two stepbrothers, Fred Lewis and Fred LaValley; and nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Blaine, she was predeceased by her son Michael Guild in 2011 and all her other stepsiblings.
The service to honor Beverly’s life will be held Thursday, April 17, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre.
Later interment will be made in the Village Cemetery in Williamstown.
