Rumney Memorial School in Middlesex has a long history of staging high-quality theatrical productions. The latest, “Dr. Dolittle Jr.,” is being performed this weekend at the school. The cast of fourth- through sixth-graders began rehearsing in January under the direction of parents Sorsha Anderson and Alisa Darmstadt, with musical direction by Tim Guiles. The show is parent-run and not part of the curriculum. Above, Eric Scharf stars in the title role of Dr. Dolittle, a small-town doctor in Victorian England who can talk with animals. Left, Charlie Darmstadt plays Gen. Bellows. Below, Maddie Friend scans the horizon while playing Tee Stubbins. Shows today are at 2 and 7 p.m.
