• Heroin dealer sentenced in Vermont federal court

    MONTPELIER -- A 38-year-old New York woman who formerly lived in Vermont has been sentenced to nearly 3 years in federal prison on charges that she conspired to distribute heroin in Vermont.

    Chelle Soutiere was arrested during a motor vehicle stop in Winooski on March 28 of last year. She was indicted in June and pleaded guilty in December to one count of conspiracy to distribute heroin.

    Authorities say Soutiere traveled from the Bronx on the MegaBus to the Burlington area to sell heroin, oxycodone pills, and suboxone tablets multiple times between September of 2012 and March of 2013.

    Soutiere's lawyer could not immediately be reached for comment.
