Conrad E. Owen Rites
BARRE TOWN — A service of thanksgiving and remembrance of Conrad E. Owen was held on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the East Barre Congregational Church. He passed away at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin on Saturday, March 29, 2014.
The Rev. Tim Sargent, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Bill Wick, chaplain at Norwich University in Northfield and a chaplain at Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin, officiated.
Special pre-recorded music included the songs, “This Is Just What Heaven Means to Me,” “I Believe in a Hill Called Mount Calvary” and “When the Saints Come Marching In.” Granddaughter-in-law Heather Moreau read the poem, “Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep.” Rev. Wick gave the eulogy and also sang the song, “Precious Lord.”
Reflections were offered by son-in-law Gilles Moreau, Dennis Roberts, Rev. Richard Painchaud, Sandra Owen Crowningshield, Ellen O’Hara, and other members of the congregation.
Following the service, family and friends gathered at the Hilltop Restaurant on Quarry Hill for a time of sharing and remembrance and a luncheon.
