MONTPELIER — Elizabeth May “Betty” LeRoy, 82, died Sunday, March 23, 2014, in hospice care at Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Oct. 6, 1931, in Barre, the daughter of the late Steven and Ann (Hamel) Mureta.
Betty attended Montpelier public schools and worked for many years as a housekeeper, waitress and caregiver.
She loved to knit, crochet, play bingo, listen to country music and play cards and participate in activities at the nursing home where she lived.
Betty has been in poor health for several years and was a resident of Berlin Health and Rehab Center at the time of her death.
She was predeceased by two husbands, Julian Gauthier and Robert LeRoy, numerous aunts, uncles and a niece, Lynda Mureta Aldrich.
Betty is survived by one brother, Joseph Mureta, and his wife, Theresa, of Montpelier; sister Mary Parke, of Chillicothe, Ohio; several nieces and nephews from Berlin, Montpelier, Burlington, San Francisco and Chillicothe, and a wonderful friend, Mary Gilpin.
In accordance with Betty’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be with her late husband Robert LeRoy at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph.
The family would like to thank the staff at Berlin Health and Rehab Center where she was a resident, and the staff on 2 North at Central Vermont Medical Center and Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice for their outstanding care and compassion.
