    There are 2,371 flood insurance policyholders in Vermont facing dramatic premium cost increases as part of changes to the National Flood Insurance Program.

    Some of the highlights from an analysis by The Associated Press of data from the Federal Emergency Management Agency:

    Percentage of flood insurance policyholders facing an increase: 53.3 percent;

    Policies facing annual increases up to 18 percent: 1,415;

    Policies facing mandatory annual 25-percent increases: 956;

    Businesses affected: 664;

    Annual premiums paid in 2013: $5.3 million;

    Paid flood claims all-time: $62.8 million.
