• Teacher nominations sought

    MONTPELIER — Nominations are being sought for the 2015 Vermont Teacher of the Year.

    For the first time since the program began 50 years ago, the public is being invited this year to join educators in nominating teachers for the statewide award.

    The winning educator serves for a year as an advocate for the state’s teachers, students and education system.

    Nominations will be accepted by the state Agency of Education through March 28, according to a news release Friday from the agency.

    Nominations can be submitted at: http://svy.mk/1eWpKG4.

    According to the news release, the process has been simplified to require very basic information, as a means of encouraging more participation in the submission process.

    To be in the running a teacher must hold a current Vermont teaching license; have a minimum of five years of teaching experience; and be employed in a Vermont public, private or independent school.
