    Decided on their own

I was surprised to read that some people at last week’s Montpelier School Board meeting attributed the defeat of the school budget to an organized campaign. I, for one, saw no lawn signs, newspaper ads, leaflets, email blasts or Facebook pages that are typical of organized political activity. I suspect the reality is that voters in Montpelier, as in many other Vermont towns, independently decided that this year’s proposed tax increase was just too much for their budgets.
