    MONTPELIER Fay Ann Sawyer, 56, died Monday, March 3, 2014, at Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center.

    She was born Nov. 14, 1957, in Bethel, the daughter of Julius W. and Mary Ann (Rice) Sawyer.

    She was raised in Bethel and had lived in Graniteville until moving to Montpelier in 1993.

    She was a respite worker and caregiver for Washington County Mental Health Services and also served as a foster mother for many children.

    She was a member of the Moose Lodge Chapter 498 in Barre. She enjoyed singing and writing songs.

    Survivors include two sons, James D. Wheeler III, of New Hampshire, and Edward Wheeler, of Montpelier; four brothers, Ed Sawyer, of White River Junction, Jim Sawyer, Steve Sawyer, of Montpelier, and Dennis Sawyer, of Canaan, N.H.; three grandchildren; a sister, Kathy Irish; and a half-sister, Donna St. Pierre, of St. Albans. She was predeceased by two sisters, Donna Sawyer and Tina, and a brother, Joseph Sawyer.

    A memorial gathering will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 85 Astor Ave. No. 2, Norwood, MA 02062. Arrangements are by the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.
