    Therese I. Gagne Rites

    BARRE — A funeral service and celebration of the life of Therese Gagne, 99, of Green Street was held Thursday, February 13, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home in Barre. She passed away on February 8, 2014, at Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin.

    The Rev. Andrew Bednarowicz, resident parochial vicar of St. Sylvester Catholic Church of Graniteville, led the service and read Scripture.

    Pre-recorded songs were “Ave Maria” and “Pacific Shores.”

    Pallbearers were Maurice Soucy, Michael Carbonneau, Dwight Coffrin and Don Bullard.

    Entombment was in the Elmwood Vault in Barre. Burial will be held on June 7, 2014, at 1 p.m. in Berlin Corners Cemetery.

    Following the funeral service, friends and family gathered at the Hilltop Restaurant for a time of fellowship and luncheon.

    Arrangements were in the care of the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer Street, Barre.



    Allan Mattson

    BERLIN — Allan Mattson, 63, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at his home.

    A full obituary will be in a future edition of The Times-Argus.

    Arrangements are under the direction of the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home in Barre.



    Edna A. Nolin

    STOWE — Edna Audrey Nolin, age 91, passed away at Copley Hospital surrounded by her family on Friday, February 21, 2014. She was born November 3, 1922, in Stowe, the daughter of the late Margaret Shaw Weston and Frank Weston.

    Edna married Robert Nolin right before he left for basic training during World War II and spent the waiting years purchasing a house and getting ready for his return. They lived briefly in the Warren area and then moved to Stowe to raise their family. She loved caring for her family and in the years before she lost her sight to macular degeneration, Edna enjoyed crocheting, sewing and making quilts. Edna was a lifelong member of Donald McMahon Post 64 Ladies Legion Auxiliary and a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish, both in Stowe.

    Edna is survived by her daughters, Nancy LaVanway of Stowe and Kathy McConnell and her husband Dan of Georgia, Vt.; a sister, Avis Gauthier and her husband John of Graniteville; a sister-in-law, Marlene Weston of Warren; grandchildren, William Nolin and his partner Amy Thompson of Wolcott, Heidi LaVanway of Morrisville, Gregory McConnell of Berlin, Mass., and Sean McConnell of Georgia, Vt.; great-grandchildren, Christopher Brutzman, Sabrina, Holden, Grafton and Mark Thompson; her cousin, Eleanor Fifield; and many loving relatives and friends.

    Edna was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Robert; her son, David Nolin; son-in-law John LaVanway; as well as siblings, Raymond Weston, Norman Weston, Norris Weston, Gloria Wheeler, Irene Chayer and Frances Fluery.

    Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, February 27, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the White-Fiess Funeral Home, 165 Brooklyn St., Morrisville.

    A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2014, at the Blessed Sacrament Church, 728 Mountain Road, Stowe.

    In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Lamoille Home Health & Hospice, 53 Farr Ave., Morrisville, Vt. 05661.

    Arrangements are in the care of the White-Fiess Funeral Home,165 Brooklyn St., Morrisville.
