• Police: Driver didn’t pay for gas

    WILLIAMSTOWN — A Barre resident is accused of driving off without paying for gas.

    Vermont State Police say Nelson Barney III, 21, took off from The Pump and Pantry in Williamstown on Thursday after getting gas but failing to pay for it.

    State police caught up with the vehicle in Barre Town and cited Barney.

    He is scheduled to appear in Orange County criminal court in Chelsea on March 26 to answer a charge of theft of services.
