BARRE — A Middlesex teen is facing charges after Vermont State Police say she trashed her parents’ home in a drunken rage.

Mya J. Hayes, 18, pleaded not guilty Thursday in Chittenden County criminal court to misdemeanor unlawful mischief. If convicted, she faces a maximum of six months in jail or a $500 fine.

According to the state police affidavit, troopers went to a home on East Hill Road on Wednesday where an 18-year-old was said to be out of control.

State police say they found the home in complete disarray with broken glass and furniture littering it.

Police spoke with Hayes’ father, who said she had been drinking alcohol, had become angry and started trashing the house after throwing a pocket knife at him.
