Humane society celebrates 50thFebruary 13,2014
EAST MONTPELIER The Central Vermont Humane Society will recognize its 50-year anniversary by holding its fourth annual Adoption Center Birthday Party on Feb. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The celebration will kick off a year of fundraising events for CVHS, which relies heavily on support from local organizations, businesses and individuals to help it care for more than 1,200 animals each year.
All are invited to the event, which will be held at the humane society on Route 14 in East Montpelier. Those in attendance will enjoy free refreshments and raffles as well as dog training demos and visits with animals up for adoption. CVHS is always grateful for donations of canned food, cat litter, litter pans, blankets, towels, dog enrichment toys, cat toys and pet-safe ice melt in addition to any monetary gifts.
CVHS was founded 50 years ago after a highly publicized animal abuse case in central Vermont.
