    BARRE CITY — David A. Norkeveck, 66, died Jan. 30, 2014, at Hanover (N.H.) Terrace Health Care.

    Born April 30, 1947, in Winchester, Mass., he was the son of Leonard G. and Thelma F. (Lannin) Norkeveck.

    He attended Marion High School in Barre.

    In 1965, Mr. Norkeveck joined the U.S. Navy and served in the Vietnam War.

    He married Connie Welch in 1965. They later divorced.

    After his military service, he worked as a carpenter for various Barre contractors, before retiring due to medical reasons.

    Mr. Norkeveck was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

    He was a political activist and enjoyed music, as well as reading.

    Survivors include two sons, David of Colchester, Conn., and Daryl of West Topsham; and two brothers, Brian of Colchester and Peter of Salem, Ore.

    He was predeceased by a brother, Bruce.

    At his request, there will be no funeral services.
