Helen F. Murray Rites
WILLIAMSTOWN — The service to honor and celebrate the life of Helen Flanders Murray, of Main Street and former clerk and treasurer of the town, was held Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre. She died at her home with her family about her, Jan. 16, 2014.
The Rev. Richard Painchaud, former brother-in-law and longtime Baptist minister, led the ceremony. Words of remembrance and praise were offered by her son, Gordon Murray, and special and precious friend, Terrie Salvador. Granddaughter Danielle Moffatt read the poem “No Vermonters in Heaven,” as a tribute to her grandmother.
Charity Chapter 57 Order of the Eastern Star of Williamstown presented their memorial tribute to Helen and her longtime membership, with Palmer Martin as worthy patron, Jackie Carpenter as worthy matron and Cedric Smith as chaplain. The star points were Deborah Spooner as Adah, Barbara Smith as Ruth, Florence Perrin as Esther, Helen Duke as Martha and Carolyn Werneke as Electa.
Entombment was made in the Hooker and Whitcomb receiving vault, to await burial in the West Hill Cemetery in Williamstown.
