ST. JOHNSBURY — A new slaughterhouse and retail butcher store is planned in St. Johnsbury.

Northeast Kingdom Processing applied for a permit to build a 12,000-square-foot facility on a 1.5-acre lot in the St. Johnsbury-Lyndonville Industrial park.

The new building is on a lot adjacent to the site of Fred’s Propane, owned by Fred Oeschger. He also owns the lot where the slaughterhouse is being built, and applied for a permit that was issued last year.
