• Guardsmen competing in regional biathlon in Vt

    JERICHO — About 40 National Guardsmen from seven states are competing in the National Guard Bureau’s East Regional Biathlon Competition in Vermont.

    Each year, regional competitions are held to select guardsmen to participate in the Chief of the National Guard Bureau Biathlon Championships. The Camp Ethan Allen Training Site in Jericho is hosting the regional competition Friday and today.

    Biathlon combines cross-country skiing and precision target shooting.

    Through this program, members have gone on to represent the nation in various including the Biathlon World Cup and the Winter Olympics.
