    ROCHESTER — A local man found lying injured on Route 100 told Vermont State Police before he died that he was hit by a vehicle, prompting a search for a white pickup which was seen speeding away by one of the people who found George Goding.

    Goding, 86, was found in the road shortly after 9 a.m. Wednesday. Police were told that it appeared Goding had been struck by a vehicle, and he confirmed that information before a medical helicopter airlifted him to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. Goding was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

    Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call state police at 234-9933.
