Raymond Paul Rossi
BARRE — Raymond Paul Rossi, 83, of North Parkside Terrace, passed away on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin.
Born in Barre on April 6, 1930, he was the son of the late Mario and Mary (Parnigoni) Rossi.
Raymond attended Barre City Schools and was a graduate of Spaulding High School, class of 1948. Soon after, he entered into the armed forces and served at the Virginia base from 1955 until 1963. While in the service, he was acknowledged for his exceptional artillery skills.
After the service he returned to Barre where he owned and operated an Italian Specialty Store with Carletto Parnigoni. Carletto and his wife, Mary, opened their home to Raymond, after his parents, Mario and Mary Rossi, passed away.
Raymond then met Patricia Ann Boucher, and they were married on Jan. 18, 1969, in the Bethany United Church of Christ in Montpelier. They have always made their home in the Barre area. In 1972 they adopted their only child, Brent Rossi.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years of marriage, Patricia Rossi, of Barre; one son, Brent Rossi, and his fiancé, Maurissa Bunnell, of Hardwick; four grandchildren, Trevor, Samantha, Maryssa and Keagan Rossi; two step-grandchildren, Mychal and Ruby Bunnell; and two great-grandchildren, Shae-lynn and Peyton Rossi. Raymond is also survived by his beloved cat, Muffy.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at 11 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. Family and friends may call at the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home in Barre on Tuesday from 9 until 10:45 a.m. Extra parking is available in St. Monica’s parking lot.
Entombment will be in the Elmwood vault in Barre. A later spring burial will be in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center, Vt., with full military honors.
