RICHFORD — A father and daughter are accused of animal cruelty after Vermont State Police said they found two emaciated dogs in a camper at their Richford home.
Randall J. Sheperd, 52, and Casey A. Sheperd, 19, were arrested Friday on charges of animal cruelty.
Police said the dogs were in a camper without food or water. Temperatures were in the single digits.
A veterinarian estimated that the animals were within 24 hours of death.
The Sheperds have been cited to court in February.
CASTLETON — The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department will hold a free seminar next month on trapping through the ice.
The Jan. 11 seminar will be held at the Edward Kehoe Education Center in Castleton. Participants will spend part of the day on Lake Bomoseen.

Woman accused of
TOPSHAM — A Barre woman has been charged with stealing cash, checks and medications in a burglary at her sister’s home, police said.
Kevin Wedge and Jessica Rollins, who live on Route 302 in Topsham, reported the burglary to Vermont State Police on Dec. 20.
A security camera caught two females breaking into the home and taking the items, police said.
One of the subjects was identified as Rollins’ sister, 22-year-old Jennifer Rollins, police said. A search of her vehicle found some of the stolen property, police said.
Jennifer Rollins was charged with burglary and possession of stolen property. She was cited into court Jan. 22.
Police said the second female, not yet named, is expected to be charged later.

Four charged with
ROCKINGHAM — Three people from New Hampshire and one from Connecticut have been arrested on heroin trafficking charges after police pulled over a vehicle on Interstate 91 in Rockingham.
After searching the car early Saturday, Vermont State Police said, they found 200 small bags of heroin weighing a total of about 6 grams.
The occupants were travelling from Hartford, Conn., to Claremont, N.H. with the drugs, police said.
Police arrested Misty Belanger, 21; Kenneth Dulong, 20; and Torin Ruggeri, 21, all of Claremont, N.H. Ariel Pagan, 35, of Hartford, Conn. was also arrested after the traffic stop at around 1 a.m.
All four were being held at the Springfield prison on $25,000 bail.

SHAFTSBURY — Vermont State Police handed out 11 tickets in 2Ĺ hours Saturday on Route 7 as they targeted aggressive driving.
Police conducted a “directed patrol” along the highway in Shaftsbury, Arlington and Sunderland. They stopped 13 vehicles, handing out two written warnings along with the traffic tickets.
