BERLIN — Vermont State Police say a Northfield resident was under the influence while driving close to 105 mph on Interstate 89.

Troy M. Thayer, 31, was northbound in a 2011 Jetta in Berlin early Friday morning when state police say they pulled him over for speed well in excess of the 65 mph limit. After an investigation, Thayer was cited on charges of driving under the influence and careless and negligent operation.
