    STOWE — Haven Sterling Shonio, 19, died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Jacksonville, Fla., Friday, Dec. 13, 2013. She had just completed her first semester at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Fla., and was en route to Jacksonville Airport to return home for Christmas.

    She was born Sept. 24, 1994, in Morrisville.

    She attended Stowe Elementary and Stowe Middle School and graduated from Stowe High School in June. She was the recipient of four scholarships and went on to study English and creative writing at Flagler College.

    She worked the past several seasons as a hostess at the Cliff House Restaurant at Stowe Mountain Resort.

    She enjoyed her family, her friends and her pets. She also enjoyed music, travel, the movies, Tom Hanks and going to the beach. She especially enjoyed Old Orchard Beach, Maine, Lake Willoughby in Vermont, and St. Augustine Beach in Florida. She was passionate about reading and writing, and was an avid Red Sox fan, attending many games at Fenway Park.

    Survivors include her parents, Barry and Penny (Farnsworth) Shonio, of Stowe; a sister, Hannah Shonio, of Stowe; maternal grandparents Gary and Betty (Fielder/Farnsworth) Lacey, of South Burlington; paternal grandparents Marten and Barbara (Magoon) Shonio, of Stowe; aunts, uncles and cousins.

    A memorial service will be held Sunday, Dec. 22, at 1 p.m. at the Stowe Community Church. Friends may call Saturday, Dec. 21, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Stowe Community Church.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Haven Sterling Shonio Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Union Bank, P.O. Box 419, Stowe, VT 05672.
