ESSEX — Police are investigating what’s being described as a murder-suicide in Essex.

WCAX reported Wednesday evening that investigators said a man killed a teen who lived with him, then hanged himself.

The deaths happened inside an apartment on Carmichael Street behind the Essex Outlets.

Police had not released the names of the deceased late Wednesday, but WCAX reported the teen was a student at Essex High School.

Police first sought a search warrant to enter the second-floor apartment near the outlet mall.

The Vermont State Police crime scene investigation unit and medical examiners were called to the scene.
