MONTPELIER — A Boston-based wind power developer has signed a deal to sell power from a planned Maine wind power project to the municipal electric department in Vermont’s largest city.
First Wind, which owns a wind-power project in Sheffield, Vermont, is planning an 18-tower wind farm in Hancock, Maine. The company plans to sell 25 percent of that project’s power outlet to the Burlington Electric Department for 10 years.
Burlington Electric Department also will receive renewable energy credits as part of the deal.
BED is seeking to source 100 percent of its supply needs from renewable energy. The addition of the energy from the Hancock Wind project will bring the utility to 92 percent.MORE IN Vermont NewsKareem Abdul-Jabbar, the NBA hall of famer, is offering Sen.
