Near-collision causes crash
WASHINGTON — A Williamstown man who reportedly swerved to avoid an oncoming car before slamming his pickup truck into a tree early Sunday evening was not seriously hurt.
According to state police, Leo Williams, 60, was traveling west on Williamstown Road shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday when an eastbound car crossed the center line, prompting him to swerve to avoid a head-on collision.
Williams’ vehicle, a 2000 Ford Ranger, went off the south side of the icy road and crashed into a tree, they said.
Rescue personnel went to the scene, according to police, who said Williams was checked for injuries and opted not to be taken to a hospital.
According to police, the second vehicle, described as a “smaller blue sedan,” did not stop and was not located.MORE IN This Just InNEW YORK — Emergency workers found a body Sunday in the mass of rubble left behind by an apparent...
