    A suspect in the killing of a Vermont woman more than three years ago was sentenced Monday in federal court in Rutland to 56 months in prison for his conviction in a firearms case unrelated to the abduction and death of Sheffield grandmother Mary “Pat” O’Hagan.

    Michael Norrie, 23, is one of three suspects tied to the 2010 killing of O’Hagan, but prosecutors have said they don’t have enough evidence to charge anyone with her killing.

    Chief U.S. District Judge Christina Reiss told Norrie she hoped the best for him.

    “See if you can turn this around,” Reiss said, referring to Norrie’s life. “I wish you good luck in that endeavor.”

    O’Hagan, 78, disappeared from her Sheffield home in September 2010. She was missing about three weeks before her body was found in Wheelock.

    Court records stated Norrie, his cousin Richard Fletcher, 27, and his brother Keith J. Baird, 32, all of Sheffield, are implicated in the O’Hagan killing. All three men are in state or federal custody on charges unrelated to O’Hagan’s death.

    The authorities said the men have told conflicting accounts of what happened when O’Hagan was killed in September 2010.

    In the federal case at issue Monday, Norrie pleaded guilty in June to two federal firearms charges.

    The Burlington Free Press reported O’Hagan’s five children were in the courtroom Monday but had been prohibited from making any statements in Norrie’s current case, in which he faced two federal firearms possession charges.
