Lucien R. Savard Rites
BARRE — The Mass of Christian burial to honor the life of Lucien R. Savard of Batchelder Street, was celebrated Friday, November 15, 2013, at 11 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church. He died surrounded by his family at his home on November 11, 2013.
The Rev. Leopold Bilodeau, pastor of the church, was the celebrant. Crucifer Lawrence Reilly led the Prayer of the Faithful and assisted at communion.
Organist Rosie Badeau accompanied singers Ronald Routhier and Romeo Bilodeau and the congregation in the hymns, “On Eagles Wings,” “Here I Am, Lord,” “Be Not Afraid” and “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.”
Grandson Alexander Rouleau read from the Old Testament and the New Testament was proclaimed by grandson Michael Rouleau.
The gifts were brought to the altar by daughter Cindy Mattioli and grandsons Alexander and Michael Rouleau.
The bearers were son Randy Savard, grandsons Alexander and Michael Rouleau, son-in-law Bruce Mattioli, and nephews Kevin Gray and Paul Savard Jr. Later interment will be made in the Hope Cemetery.
Fr. Lourduraja Simeone, parochial vicar of the church, led the prayer vigil service Thursday evening at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre, and Fr. Bilodeau prayed with Lucien’s family Friday morning at the funeral home prior to the Mass.
