• Norwich to host ‘Lego League’ competition

    NORTHFIELD — Norwich University is going to host a First Lego League regional qualifying tournament.

    On Nov. 16, 17 teams with more than 150 students aged 9 to 14 from all over Vermont will compete on the Northfield campus.

    Competitors will consider the effects of storms, quakes, waves and other natural disasters during challenges that will be answered by using special, robotic Lego building blocks.

    The event is designed to inspire children in science and technology through the use of robotics.

    The competition is judged in project presentation, robot performance, technical design and programming of the robot.

    The top teams from Vermont will qualify for a championship event against New Hampshire on Dec. 7.
